I was born and raised in Federal Way, Washington and have decided to spread my wings and move to the Bay Area to go to graduate school here at "beautiful" Stanford University. I am a deaf, gay 25-year old man who has apparently decided to chronicle the day-to-day proceedings of his life here on his LiveJournal. A bit about myself follows:
I'm a Libra with a Cancer moon and Capricorn rising. If you believe in astrology, that's pretty much all that needs to be said.
For those of you who don't believe in that stuff - I am an INFP according to the Myers-Briggs typology. If you're not familiar with that, Google is your friend.
I love to play games of all kinds - board, card, or parlor games. My latest addiction has been Literati (Yahoo's version of Scrabble) and cribbage (not the newfangled interweb game, please). I'd like to learn how to play bridge, but I am rarely lucky enough to have four people at one time that all want to play a game, much less learn how to play bridge.
Another passion of mine is food - I love to eat out and have a good dinner conversation with someone - which may or may not be about food - and that is one of the several reasons why I hate eating alone. I also like cooking for people, but I admit that I'm not a very experienced cooker, but I am still a very willing and able learner. I am much more experienced at baking, though, and I enjoy hearing what people think of my food.
I've been a video game fan for as long as I can remember. In fact, I have no less than five systems (SNES, N64, PS2, GCN, and the GBA) with games for all of them. Granted, most of the games that I tend to play are classic mainstream RPGs from the 1990s that I grew up playing. Games that I own include most of the Metroid series, the Zelda series, and the Final Fantasy series. I find the following genre of games incredibly boring to play: sports, most (but not all!) racing, most (but not all!) first-person-shooters, games for the X-Box (because none of the games for that console are captioned!).
One last thing - I'm deaf. I communicate with ASL pretty well - text communication works nicely as well. The only liability is that my oral communication is very limited, and people have not had much success communicating with me that way. So, ASL or text are the best way to talk with me.
